Valentines Day Musical!

The Drama club worked hard to put together a musical that told a story of friendship and young love. It included dance numbers and songs that blended so well with the story the students portrayed in the play. If you missed the play, Eric Connor Saunders (eric7.byk) recorded the fun dances and captured the memory of the performances that night.

The play started out in a classroom set that ended with the lead girl role, azrielle, getting the love note instead of her best friend, who didnt like him anyway.

The love story had some comedy in it, with typical elementary boys wanting to do gross things. This song, taken place outside at the recess set, helps the story by giving the boy the words he speaks to his new girlfriend. This scene got the audience's attention and kept them giggling.

This scene was all about azrielle and Micah hanging out and getting some one on one quality time together. This also assisted azrielle express how she felt for Micah, very sweet and cute scene.

Boys are always more simple. While azrielle expressed how the two of them were a single unit and fit together perfectly, Micah was just happy holding her hand. This dance number and song brought them together and expressed that in a cute duet.

After Micah and Azrielle's love scene. Azrielle's best friend, Arianna, expresses how she feels. That she feels left out and hurt that she ditched her for a boy. And Arrianna left on an angry note, but after a talk with her mother, azrielle and her best friend make up and they realiez they can ALL be best friends. And it ends with a nice best friends song and dance.

The play was fun and entertaining and there was positive feedback from all the students, great job drama play!

Animal Fun in the Classroom!

Miss Maisie's 12:00pm - 2:00pm class

We've all experienced "Show N' Tell" at school, but MIss Maise's class put a little spin on it and brought it completely to life! After a fun term of learning about topics such as, the world famous landmarks, northern lights, titanic and much more, they finished the term with bringing animals to class to show off their favorite pets! Sounds like a load of fun! The classroom was half gone with many kids away at camp, so what a way to keep kids enthusiastic about coming to class. Miss Maisie, did a fine job of pulling together a lesson of showing off pets and telling facts about the animals. All sorts of animals were shared, from big butterflies, to horses to house dogs! It definately made for an exciting last day of class! No worries MIss MIndy, all poop was cleaned up by their owners! Here are only a few of the students' animals.

Raziel
"Goldfish were first introduced to North America around 1850 and quickly became popular in the United States."
"They are currently over 300 breeds of goldfish since then ranging from the basic one like i got. which is just a comon goldfish to fantail with pretty long huge fins to panda moor which i call googly eyes goldfish as there eyes are very big."

Angel Netizen:
"i have a butterfly as a pet. this is about one of biggest butterflies in the world but the butterfly comes from a catterpilar and the way they do it is called metamorphasis. Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal's body structure through cell growth and differentiation." (smart kid!) Angel shared a video

What a great presentation!

Zachary:
zachary's toy speaks " I am a breed of cat,
I am from the result of breeding domestic shorthaired tabbies to make me resemble a toy tiger. I was designed in order to inspire people to care about the conservation of tigers in the wild."

(zachary built his toy only hours before class. Pretty impressive!)

Damyen:
"Dreamer is a German Shepherd Dog. The German Shepherd Dog is respected and admired throughout the world for its versatility, intelligence, and loyalty....The German Shepherd is considered to be one of the newer breeds of dogs. 1891 became the start of the breed that we know today."

HKE "Happy Paws" Dance Team

The HKE Dance team put on two very good performances in the morning and evening. They celebrated the winter season with song and dance that showed a variety of emotion for each song. It was mixed with fast and slow, fun and flashy, sweet and slow and fast and popping. The dance team couldn't have put together a more entertaining show. It definitely left the crowd impressed. To watch the video and see more pictures check the "pictures" and "videos" sections of the blog.

The costumes were beautiful for "The Nutcracker". The choice of dress only enhanced the beauty of the dance itself with the flow of their elegant movements. And then gave a surprise of quick dancing in the fast break of the song. Very impressive indeed

Their second performance pretty much won everyone over as soon as the song started, with The Grinche's "Where are you Christmas". From the costumes with the cool "who hair", to the sweet ballet turns, it was magical and sweet.

The third performance was fun-filled with fast moves that made you happy and think of marshmallowy snow! They danced to Cheetah Girl's "Marshmallow World" and the themed background of snowy homes only enriched the environment they created with their set.

They wowed the crowd with their cool costume of lights that blinked on and off just like their stage lights. This dance was very quick with impressive turns and graceful gliding across the stage. It had an impressive ending that landed right on the beat and just gave it the finale feeling that it was.

This was the dance team's first solo featured performance! Great job HKE Dance Team! Go Check out the video and more pictures!
